How Long Does It Take to Build an App

Written by Mitch Ahiers | Wed, September, 21, 2022

Countless times, people have been asking How long does it take to build an app? Well, let me ask some questions also; how big is your application? How many features does your app have? And what does it need to do?

The functionality of your application really matters! You may have a small application, something that only takes four to eight weeks. Or you could have an extensive game-changing application, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and Uber.

Something like these may take you six months to nine months, maybe even a year, Definitely you’re going to be working with us through every stage of the process. We don’t just start building an application unless you know what we’re building and how long it will take.

If you need to remove features to help you get closer to a timeline. We’re going to help you do that. We’re going to be there with you from beginning to end to make sure that everything is what the consumer wants, and you have the best chance of success because that’s how EX Squared works.

Typical Application Development Timeline

While the applications run on cell phones and typically don’t take up a lot of memory, they still take a long time to plan, design, develop, and launch. To assist people who are often a bit surprised by how long it takes to develop an application from start to finish, we have come up with this article to give you an idea of the stages involve in building an application.

Architecture And Planning

During this phase of the project, all facets of the application are studied. Besides a simple idea of what the app should do and what it should look like, what other resources are needed? Does the application need to connect to an external database? Push or pull content? The entire application is mapped from start to finish. How much more can be done in the planning stage regarding content and feature mapping will make the rest of the development process much more seamless. We estimate that it should take two to three weeks for this stage, although the larger and more complicated the application, the longer it will obviously take.

Design Phase

The Design Phase is where comps are created to show what the application will look like. Color schemes are implemented, composition images are inserted, and placeholder text is typically used at the beginning of this stage and replaced with actual content at the end of this stage or during development. Rocksauce works with our clients to understand their brand message and convey it through the app. During the design phase, you need to be careful. This phase should take around three weeks, but it can slow down if the customer doesn’t get timely feedback.
At the end of the design phase, you should have complete design comps that will be developed during the next phase.

Development Phase

This part is when our developers start working on your project so that they can code the application properly. The various pieces are linked together, including navigation, user interaction, database integration, web services, and e-commerce platforms. All functions are built into the app, all coding is done, and the pages are linked correctly. Development time can vary significantly depending on the complexity of the application.
At the end of the development phase, you should have the first version of your fully functional application.

Build an App: Trial Phase

The testing phase is one of the most important parts of projects. Some customers want to shorten the trial phase or eliminate it entirely to save time; We strongly recommend that you do not. The testing phase ensures that the application works properly, ensure to connects the databases, that there are no broken links in the application, and that everything works as designed. Tech experts can easily detect and reject a bad applications. Worse still, if the app sneaks into an approval process and doesn’t work, some negative reviews can hurt the app’s chances of success in the Store.
At the end of the testing phase, everyone needs to be sure that the app is working as intended and has the best chance of going through any approval process.

Distribution Phase

During this stage, the app will be ready for submission and approval, generally, the customers can wait 6-14 days.
You should have a fully functional application ready to download from any store at the end of this phase.

Planning is the key to success If you want to build an app

This states the typical steps to follow to build an app. Developing an application should take few months from start to finish. Some applications may take longer, while others may go through the process a little faster.
Maintaining open communication between project managers and the client has allowed us to stay up-to-date with development schedules and deliver applications on time or early in most cases.
